Less than a month before offshore industry sets sail for Stockholm

20.08.2009

Over 1,400 participants have already registered for the European Offshore Wind Conference 2009, and at least 1,600 more are expected to sign up before the event opens on 14 September in Stockholm, Sweden. To find out who will be at the event go to the attendees look-up system.

The key-note speakers at the conference have been underlining how important the event is. Eamon Ryan Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Ireland, said that “European Offshore Wind 2009 is an opportunity for a real debate on the importance and relevance of wind energy to the sourcing and supply of a reliable energy supply for Europe.”

Maud Olofsson, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Enterprise and Energy, stressed that “European Offshore Wind 2009 is an important initiative in the European Community and it is a pleasure for Sweden to support this event that is to be arranged during the Swedish Presidency of the European Union.”

Other top speakers include Andris Piebalgs, the European Commissioner for Energy.

All in all, the conference programme offers over 23 sessions and numerous side events covering different aspects of offshore wind developments

The parallel exhibition will cover 4,000m 2 of stand space - more than double the size of the exhibition at the 2007 edition, and of the over 250 exhibitors, 42% are from Scandinavian countries (19% from Sweden).
