Commission study shows renewables’ positive economic impact

The full version of the European Commission’s report on ‘The impact of renewable energy policy on economic growth and employment in the European Union has now been launched.’
Overall, the report states that policies that support renewable energy sources give a significant boost to the economy and the number of jobs in the EU. It finds that the total gross employment in the renewables sector in the EU-27 in 2020 would amount to between 2.3 million and 2.8 million people. The net GDP change due to renewable energy policies in 2020 is expected to amount to between 0.11% and 0.44% for the EU-27.
