Danish TSO launches report on wind integration
19.05.2009
The Danish government’s transmission system operator (TSO) has published an online report entitled “Wind power to combat climate change – how to integrate wind energy into the power system”. With a foreword from Connie Hedegaard, Danish Climate and Energy Minister, the publication explains how large amounts of wind power are integrated in Denmark, which currently gets 20% of its power from wind. The report outlines a plan to reach 50% of wind in the system.
The report looks at important grid and power market issues such as balancing, forecasting, congestion management, grid codes and liberalising the sector. It analyses wind’s impact on the power price, looks closely at the Nordic grid, discusses subsidies and provides an overview of the development of wind power and other renewables in Denmark.
