TPWind General Assembly: shaping the vision

05.02.2008

The second General Assembly of the European Technology Platform (TPWind) will take place on 12-13 February 2008 in Brussels. TPWind is a forum which works to identify research priorities for the wind energy sector in order to lower costs. It is made up of different working groups, each of which addresses a different aspect of wind energy development.

The objective of this second meeting is for the TPWind working groups to make further progress on their Strategic Research Agenda and Market Deployment strategy documents. The Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) addresses technological improvement. The SRA will focus on the long-term scenarios for technology development, encouraging the industry, member states and political decision-makers to use long-term research findings when they develop new prototypes.

The Market Deployment Strategy (MDS) will present the optimum future market conditions for large-scale deployment of wind technology, so that market-related policy development can be tailored to the changing needs of the technology as it matures.

The outcomes of the meetings will be used to produce the final documents, which will be published in April 2008. This event is by invitation only

The outcomes of TPWind’s first year of work will be presented at the TPWind workshop at the European Wind Energy Conference (EWEC) on 1 April. You can find more information on EWEC here.
