Announcing the First European Photo Contest for Wind Energy

12.07.2007

The events of The European Wind Day are continuing beyond the June 15 festivities: the first ever pan-European photo contest for wind energy has been launched.

In collaboration with Photo, the renowned French photography magazine and organiser of the biggest photo contest in the world, EWEA has created this event to fully expose the visual power of wind. The growing popularity of renewable energies makes this the ideal time to gather creative images that depict wind energy. The contest winners will be exhibited across European capitals and cities.

The contest judging criteria considers both the creativity and the quality of the photos in equal measures. All photographs must depict the technology as it has never been seen before, as well as the relationship between man and wind energy.

A shortlist of the first round of photos will be determined by the Photo Board of Editors (comité de rédaction). From this list the 12 winners will be chosen by EWEA Board.

The prize for first place is a professional camera, and all the 12 finalists will be published in the prestigious magazine and exhibited across Europe throughout 2008.

The first exhibition will take place on the occasion of EWEA’s 25th anniversary party, to be held in Brussels this September.

The first advertisement announcing the contest rules and deadlines has already been published in this month’s edition of Photo, as well as on both the magazine’s website (www.photo.fr) and EWEA’s (www.ewea.org). A second call for pictures will be published in the July issue of Photo.

The final deadline for photo submission is 10 August, 2007.
