EWEA Working Group - Grid Connection Requirements

02.04.2007

EWEA has launched a member’s working group to develop a common industry position on the harmonisation of grid connection requirements and Grid Codes in Europe. The Working Group represents companies and institutes directly involved with grid connection issues, including wind turbine manufacturers, component suppliers, wind farm developers and operators, service and knowledge providers (testing and certification institutes, consultants) and industry associations.

The objective is to proactively involve the wind industry in the development of grid connection codes, a process that is currently governed soley by transmission system operators (TSO’s).

The Working Group’s first meeting, which was held on 8 March 2007 in Brussels, was well attended. During the meeting, the decision was taken to draft a position paper to lay out viewpoints on technical aspects, verification and measurement of grid compliance, and the policies required to reach the necessary grid connection requirements in a cost-effective manner. The aim is to produce a common position paper by September this year.
