TWENTIES
A demonstrative project of wind power-related technologies
Tuesday, 23 November 2010
13:30 - 15:30, Room B06, Berliner Congress Center
TWENTIES project
TWENTIES is an EU-funded project which aims at the large-scale integration of wind power in the electricity grid. Through 6 full scale demonstrations, the project examines several barriers to accommodate the wind energy required to reach 2020 targets. Demonstrations will address:
- System services (voltage and frequency) provided by wind farms
- The feasibility of Virtual Power Plants combining wind farms operation and flexible generation and loads
- Increasing grid flexibility by coordinating power flow control devices and using dynamic line rating according to actual wind production
- Configurations and critical components for secure off-shore meshed networks
- Strategies for balancing large off-shore shut downs under stormy conditions
- Streamlining the permitting process of off-shore wind farms
The experimental results will be integrated into European analyses to assess the economic impact and the scalability of the solutions
