After the German election: what are offshore wind energy's prospects?

The German coalition is planning to drastically reduce its support for wind energy and has cut its 2030 offshore wind energy target from 25 GW to 15 GW.

At a press conference next week at EWEA OFFSHORE 2013 in Frankfurt panelists will discuss what happens now for the offshore wind sector in Germany.

On the panel:

  • Norbert Giese, Vice President Offshore Development, REpower Systems
  • Georg Friedrichs, Head of Business Unit Offshore Wind, Vattenfall Europe Windkraft
  • Thorsten Herdan, General Manager VDMA Power Systems and Vice-President of the German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation

They will also discuss two new studies which evaluate the cost reduction potential and the significance of energy economic aspects of offshore wind energy.

EWEA OFFSHORE 2013 will kick off on 19 November at 10:00 with a ministerial and industry panel debate on "2030 targets, the magic number?", followed by a press conference with the ministers at 12:10 and another press conference with industry CEOs at 15:40.
