EWEA to participate in the UN Climate Conference 2008 in Poznań
09.06.2008
EWEA will participate in this year’s meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The conference will take place in Poznań, Poland, during the first two weeks of December.
The Poznań conference will be key to the ongoing discussions on climate change in the run-up to the COP meeting in Copenhagen in 2009. In Copenhagen, a new climate change agreement should be reached that will follow on from the UN’s Kyoto Protocol when it expires in 2012.
In Poznań, the COP will discuss their vision for cooperative action on climate change, including long-term goals for CO2 emission reductions, and take stock of the progress made in 2008. The COP will map out what needs to happen in 2009 to reach the new climate change agreement.
EWEA will attend and actively participate in the conference by organising side events, exhibitions and receptions. The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), and national wind energy associations from countries such as Denmark and Poland will also take part.
EWEA strongly encourages its members to get involved in this important event. However, please be aware that there is a limited number of hotel rooms - to make hotel bookings, contact:
