Rooms at special rates in various hotels have been reserved for EWEA 2014 in Barcelona. To book a room, please go to our hotel booking page.
For group accommodation requests (minimum 8 rooms per night), please fill in the group accommodation booking form or contact the EWEA 2014 Hotel Secretariat at accommodation(at)eweaevents.org. Every effort will be made to satisfy group requests through customised offers, rapid action and a smooth reservation system.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: It has come to EWEA’s attention that some unofficial booking agencies attempt to sell accommodation to our exhibitors and members. Please be aware that Resotel is the only official Hotel Secretariat for EWEA 2014 and that therefore all other bookings through other agencies are done on one’s own responsibility.
Badges
All participants are requested to wear their badges throughout the event. Badges are marked according to the type of pass purchased, and participants will not be admitted to the conference or exhibition without their badge. You may also be required to show your badge at some social events.
Should you lose your badge, please go to the registration area (Hall 8.0, North entrance) for assistance. An administrative fee may apply for reprinting the badge.
Catering
Conference delegate and complimentary exhibitor staff passes include access to the official lunch areas.
All other attendees interested in taking part in the official buffet lunch should purchase tickets before the event through the registration page. This item will not be available onsite.
Access to the lunch areas will be granted upon presentation of a lunch voucher only. Lost tickets will not be replaced.

Commercial opening hours in Barcelona
Banks in Barcelona are open from Monday to Friday from 08.30 – 14:00, on Saturday from 08.30 – 13:00.
Shops usually still observe the famous siesta and most are open from 09:30 – 14:00 and then from 17:00 – 20:00, Monday to Saturday, although some shops do not close for lunch and others (mainly in the centre) do not close on Saturday afternoon.
The exceptions to these hours are the major shopping malls, department stores and supermarkets that stay open from 10:00 – 21:00 and sometimes 22:00.
Credit cards and cash
The unit of currency in Barcelona is the EURO. Current exchange rates can be found at www.xe.com/ucc.
Cash points are widely available. There is one ATM machine located in the registration area (Hall 8.0, North entrance).
Credit cards are widely accepted throughout Spain. EuroCard or Access signs indicate that the MasterCard is accepted. Major banks allow cash withdrawals on credit cards. Some places might charge a fee when accepting foreign credit cards as payment. Be sure to bring your PIN code and a picture ID when using a credit card in Spain. Foreign exchange facilities can be found at the airport, railway stations and major banks.

Entry requirements and visa application letter
All visitors must be in possession of an identity card or a passport to enter Spain.
Who does not need a visa
Citizens from any State of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein only need a valid national identity document or passport to enter Spain. In case of doubt, please contact your local Spanish embassy or consulate.
Who needs a visa
Travellers requiring a visa can travel freely throughout the Schengen zone for three months with a Schengen visa issued by any Schengen country. Further information can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (Current member countries of the Schengen treaty are Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland).

Visa application invitation letter
Attendees must have registered and paid the required registration fees before requesting an official letter of invitation. All requests should be made during the online registration. Please note that the organisers will not be able to contact or intervene with any embassy or consulate office on behalf of a participant.

Language
The official event language is English and all conference presentations will be in English.
Barcelona’s official languages are Catalan and Spanish. However, most signs are indicated only in Catalan because it is established by law as the official language. Simultaneous translation will be provided for the sessions taking place on Monday 10 March and for the Business & Policy track as well as for the official press conferences taking place on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 March and both Spanish associations’ side events on Wednesday 12 March.
Lost and found
Lost and found items can be recovered at the Organisers’ office in Tibidabo suite A, close to Halls 6 and 7, Level 1.

Parking
Parking permits for the duration of the event, including build up and breakdown, can be purchased on site at the customer service desk in the Tibidabo suite.
There are 310 parking lots in front of Hall 8 and 911 parking lots in front of Hall 6.
The parking fee is 25€ per day or 80€ for the whole event.
Poster award ceremony
The poster award ceremony will take place on Wednesday 12 March, 13:30 – 14:00, in the poster area.

Poster presentations
Hundreds of poster presentations will be on view throughout the event in the poster area in the corridor that links the entrance / conference hall 8 to the exhibition halls 6 & 7. As an innovation this year, posters are grouped by session topic and will be presented by authors directly after the corresponding session. Press
Press service
A fully-equipped press room will be at the disposal of journalists throughout the event in Hall 8.0. Computers, refreshments, background information and press packs will be available. It will be open from 09:00 – 18:00 (Monday – Wednesday) and from 09:00 – 14:00 on Thursday. An official EWEA press conference will take place on Tuesday 11 March 2014 at 10:30 in the press conference room and be part of the programme dedicated to journalists.
Online accreditation
Online accreditation allows journalists to register for EWEA 2014 in the run-up to the event. All press representatives who register in advance will receive regular updates with information by email.

Proceedings
A full four-day conference delegate pass includes free access to the online conference proceedings website published during the event. Pre-registered delegates will receive an e-mail with their login details to the proceedings on the first day of the conference. Delegates registered on site will receive the link shortly after the conference. The proceedings include all submitted abstracts and PowerPoint presentations, synchronised audio files, video files of selected sessions, poster presentations and full papers (where available). Proceedings can be purchased via the order form.

Shuttle buses
A shuttle bus service will be provided between the South entrance (train and metro station Europa/Fira) and the North entrance of Fira Gran Via from Sunday 9 March at 14:00 to Thursday 13 March at 15:30. The schedule for the shuttles will be published closer to the event.
