This session focuses on the latest innovations in both HVAC and HVDC technologies. The decision for one of both technologies depends on the project’s boundary conditions and will impact the investment costs, the system availability and the transmission losses. Recent experiences from offshore grid connections will be interactively discussed in a panel, during the 2nd part of the session.

- Explain the strengths, weaknesses and risks of today’s HVAC and HVDC technologies
- Get insights on construction and operation of selected projects and future TSO plans.
