Session description

Wind farm layouts have traditionally been based substantially upon energy optimisation, within restrictions imposed by third party stakeholders.  With bigger and more complex sites, the effect of layout design on LCoE, through capex and opex costs as well as yield calculations, is greater, and thus more assessment warranted.  This session presents current state-of-the-art in layout optimisation methods, and their value.

Learning Objectives
  1. How much more can you get out of a wind farm by optimising for LCoE rather than simply energy?
  2. What risk do you take if you contract layout to the supply chain without clear guidance on requirements?
  3. What are the major capex factors to balance against yield and losses?
  4. How do you go about optimising for these factors, individually, and together?
