Renewable Energy Directive enters EU law
22.06.2009
The 2009 Renewable Energy Directive (Directive 2009/28/EC) was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 5 June, meaning it is now part of European law. The directive, by far the world’s most crucial and ambitious piece of legislation for the wind energy industry, establishes a 20% renewable energy target in the EU by 2020, which is broken down into mandatory national targets.
