Energy Council discusses energy efficiency

At its most recent meeting on 12 June, the Energy Council discussed a progress report on the energy efficiency package, which contains an energy labelling directive, a tyre labelling directive and an energy performance of buildings directive. The purpose of the three proposals on energy efficiency is help reach the 20% reduction in the EU's energy consumption by 2020, as called for by the 2007 spring Council conclusions. Work on the energy efficiency package will be ongoing under the Swedish Presidency, which intends to reach agreement with the European Parliament on these proposals.
