ERGEG opens consultation on grid connection
19.05.2009
The European Regulators Group for Electricity and Gas (ERGEG) has recently published a public consultation on Electricity Grid Connection and Access. This consultation paper addresses crucial issues for the European wind industry such as EU-wide common connection principles for generation units (including distributed generation), EU-wide non-discriminatory and fair treatment of all grid users, principles for provisions for voltage and frequency quality, and provisions for sufficient transparency and information.
The various responses are intended to provide input for future Framework Guidelines on grid connection and access, to be prepared by the newly established Agency for the Cooperation of European Regulators (ACER) according to the 3rd Liberalisation Package. The future Framework Guidelines are delivering principles upon which respective codes for grid connection and access will be developed by the European Network of Transmission System Operators (ENTSO-E). ERGEG is seeking responses to this public consultation by 2 June 2009.
