The sky’s the limit: Global Wind Day plans gather pace

16.04.2009

From China to Canada, from the Netherlands to New Zealand, the dazzling range of events being lined up for the first Global Wind Day are set to make 15 June 2009 the most international and exciting celebration of wind energy ever.

Will you be in Italy? You might just find those beautiful buildings dwarfed for a day by a 40 metre high wind turbine in a well-known historical spot, bringing ancient and modern constructions together.

Or why not head to Holland to see a spectacular outdoor show especially written for the Global Wind Day on Don Quixote and his quixotic attitude to windmills. Will he be won round once he learns of the benefits of modern wind turbines?

If you’re travelling by train in Sweden, you won’t be able to miss the 130m 2 wind power exhibition at Stockholm central station. More people pass through the station every day than anywhere else in the Nordic countries – why not join them on 13-15 June?

These activities are just the tip of the iceberg! Keep an eye on the Global Wind Day website, www.globalwindday.org to find out about the latest events taking place near you via an interactive Google map.
