Sustainable Energy Week

08.02.2007

The first EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) took place last week in Brussels and other European cities. This event was organised jointly by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy and Transport, the European Institutions and major stakeholders involved in the sustainable energy field. The aim of the EUSEW is to become the main annual reference point for sustainable energy issues in Europe.

EUSEW is the first major initiative organised by the European Institutions in collaboration with a wide range of private and public organisations. The EUSEW also reflects the active cooperation between several key EU initiatives managed by the European Commission, including Concerto +, Civitas Forum, ManagEnergy, EPBD Buildings Platform, the Intelligent Energy - Europe Programme, the Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign, and the European Technology platforms for Photovoltaics and Solar Thermal. EUSEW is organised under the auspices of the overall Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign (SEE). The events that took place during this first EUSEW covered key topics, highlighting the multi-sectoral nature of sustainable energy development and stressing the need for all stakeholders to work together towards a common goal. The events ranged from conferences, meetings, symposiums and award ceremonies to receptions and exhibitions.
