EWEA CEO pursues new career challenge with climate institute in Australia

08.02.2007

The Chief Executive Officer of the European Wind Energy Association, Corin Millais, has announced that he is leaving his position at the end of February 2006 to become Executive Director of the newly-established Climate Institute in Sydney, Australia. The Institute has been set up with A$10 million of funding from a philanthropic group to develop and implement a five - year campaign to persuade Australians of the dangers of climate change and the need for governments to take urgent action.

"Since 2002, Corin’s leadership has transformed EWEA into a world- class trade body representing the sector, delivering an effective business-based strategy centred on policy and communications, with a track record of results", said Professor Arthouros Zervos, President of EWEA. "We will miss his vision, his focus and his strategic acumen".

"As the voice of the industry, EWEA is well equipped to play a decisive role in shaping public and policy agendas that are vital for the future of the sector. Climate change is the defining issue of our time from an energy and environment aspect, and Australia is at the forefront of the debate: innovative approaches from all sides are essential to make progress", said Corin Millais.
