“In 2008, we installed 8,454 MW of wind capacity, making up 36% of power installations. That was more than any other power generating technology. There are good reasons for the wind sector’s top spot: the range of benefits it offers to European citizens is unmatched by any other energy source". Arthouros Zervos, President of the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) at EWEC 2009. |
The conference programme at EWEC 2009 offered a unique opportunity for Europe's decision makers and industry leaders to engage in constructive dialogue about the barriers, challenges and benefits of developing and exploiting wind energy.
Over four days, more than 500 presenters in over 50 sessions, side events and seminars covered every key aspect of the wind energy market – from technical and theoretical to policy and practice.
This year’s event attracted over 390 exhibitors, spread across 9,000 m2 in 3 halls. More than 7,500 participants from all over the world were present for the largest ever EWEC exhibition.
