The last few years have not been kind to the European economy. But in 2014, the policy world will start to move forward, with a push towards new climate and energy targets prompting a renewed discussion on the value of energy in Europe. EWEA knows that the wind industry needs to be ready to reassert its importance and demonstrate its many societal and economic benefits.
This conference can play a big role in restoring the sector’s confidence and in showing politicians that wind energy can make a valuable contribution to Europe’s economic recovery. The four-day event will focus on communicating this message to policymakers, whilst equipping participants with practical tools to meet the demands of industrialisation.
Diversity in a single programme
The conference attracts engineers, consultants, senior managers, researchers, policymakers, academics, salespeople, financiers and technicians, who come from all over the world.
So we aim to develop a conference programme which is equally diverse. We are currently developing the session topics across several broad themes:
- Financing and policy
- European and international markets
- Grids and integration
- Hardware and supply chain
- Resource assessment
- Science and research
Call for abstracts
We welcome quality presentations on a wide range of topics. In addition to invited speakers, we gather proposals via a call for abstracts. Our programme setup timings are as follows:
- Call for abstracts (in selected themes) opens: by late August
- Call for reviewers & session chairs (EWEA members only): early September
- Call for abstracts closes: 13 October
- Notification of presenters: late December
- Full conference programme online: early January
If you are interested in presenting at the conference, please take a note of these timings and be ready to submit your abstract before the deadline! You can also save these dates directly into your Outlook calendar.
What do you want?
We are always open to new ideas! Tell us what you want to learn about, which sessions you’d like to see in the programme, and what formats you’d find most valuable. We can’t promise to use everything, but we’ll do our best to take your suggestions on board!
